Susan Kaempfer
Lifelong relationships with animals would most simply sum up Susan’s life. From childhood family pets to becoming best friends with the cow that lives next door, animals were always there. A native of Wisconsin, Susan relocated to California where she became an ocean dive master and rescue diver. Weekend scuba trips included swimming with the seals in the Channel Islands and boat-wreck dives at Catalina.
One of the unique features of California is that one can scuba dive one weekend day, and ski in the mountains the other. Joining National Ski Patrol gave many opportunities for regular skiing, which meant Susan needed a ski buddy, so she sought out a dog who could be trained to join her on the mountain.
Currently, a resident of New Albany, Indiana, a suburb of Louisville, Kentucky, Susan continues to maintain a presence in California for National Ski Patrol. Susan found Jin Shin Jyutsu when she volunteered her canine companions during a local JSJ for Animal Companion weekend workshops. The benefit her pets received from the students during that weekend was very eye opening.
Susan has been working with Jin Shin Jyutsu in the rescue community and the public at large. She can often be found promoting the benefits of JSJ for Your Animal Companion at the local farmers market. Susan and husband, John, are animal advocates sharing their lives with 6 dogs and 4 cats.
